Performance
For my performance I spun a color guard flag. My word was toss, so I threw a few tosses that I remembered from when I was in color guard a few years ago. Unfortunately it was seen as more of a talent show piece. So I guess next time I will have to think of something else. It seems like it was a popular thing to go with something you were already decent at, I should have seen that and changed to my previous idea of doing a back bend for the word bridge. Though I think that would have come across as a talent show piece too seeing that I am fairly decent at back bends. Better luck next time!

Big Idea
I'm really pleased with the final product. Everyone seemed to like it a lot, especially since it worked. And I got a lot of request to make clocks for people! I think this is the start of a wonderful business, I really enjoyed myself.

Inflatable Critic
The inflatable octopus was built using basic geometric shapes such as a horse shoe like shape for the head and wave/curve shapes for the tentacles. As we cut we made sure to leave enough space for the melting. Luckily, the iron a team mate had did not require the use of aluminum foil so the process of fusing the piece began to get quicker. Last, we turned the pieces inside out to add a natural clean and curvy shape to each piece, then, with a tool that our group made, we just lay the structure down and melted all the pieces together till the octopus was complete.
Problems encountered was knowing what area of the octopus we were working on due to general size (huge). Also, there were many pieces to the structure, so keeping track of it all was very tedious. To our disadvantage, the wind was very strong. So even though our project had no problem inflating, the wind would overpower the structure and blow it down. Also, due to the increase of heat both inside and outside, hole would begin to form and would have to be patched up if it got to server. The process of making the octopus had one major struggle that was able to be solved by two of our team mates, it was making the head top (head) round instead of bulky and pointy.
The happy accidents that occurred was the wind blew the tentacles creating a nice visual, it was if the tentacles were flaying around in panic because the octopus lacked water. When we created the skirt we expected it to be completely flat but it was not and helped add to the circular shape of the octopus’s head. Lastly, for the majority of the project assembling it together was fairly easy and simple.

Color pieces
When I presented the pieces I wasn't very fond of them. I'm sure that came across in my presentation. However, the feedback I got from it was very good. My least favorite piece was a lot of other peoples favorite piece and my favorite one was others least favorite. Everyone seemed to really like the torn paper and transparent one. Which I though those were the weakest because the variations of color were less apparent than the dot piece. But whatever floats your boat I guess.

Identity
I chose to go with an issue that a lot of girls have. Trying to look like all the models they see on tv and in magazines, and wanting to feel pretty.

Final Line Story mark making
With a little help from my siblings I was able to round up a few cars that would make different tracks for my final piece. I am pretty proud of it. I though it might fail, but it turned out much better than I expected.

Metaphor proposal #3
Teen Pregnancies: "Put a sleeve on it, or else!"
I couldn't really show this in my sketch but I would make one BIG condom out of many small ones, and at the opening there would be babies falling out.
Metaphor proposal #2
"I'm as straight as a turnpike"
I do realize the quote is a simile, but I'm having a hard time thinking of a metaphor for straight people vs the LGBTQ community. Basically it's just a line that ends up being curvy and a rainbow explosion.
Metaphor proposal #1
National Obesity: This is typical dialogue with an overweight customer at the movie theater I work at.
overweight customer: Hi can I get a small popcorn with lots and lots of butter, and a large drink?
me: sure!
customer: You know, just go on and DROWN the popcorn in butter! Give me a heart attack.
me: Um, ok. Sure.
me (under my breath): you might as well have ordered a large cup of butter. O_O
Basically I will have a small unbuttered popcorn, and a large cup filled with butter instead of a drink. Because basically, that's what these types of customers are ordering.

Lecture assignment 3/04
In this photo is my grandmother and little sister. a. There was no purpose of taking this photo really, I just wanted to take a fun photo of two of my favorite people. I keep it because I thought it was a good angle, a beautiful day, and it shows the fun nature of my grandmother and sister. I chose it for this assignment because it was one of my first independent photo shoots. I would usually only take photos for my high school yearbook. It's significance to me is the relationship I have with each of them. Because they're my family, I keep them close to me at all times.
b. The emotional relationship is family. My grandmother for a long time was my closest family member, and my little sister is and will always be a little pest that I can't get rid of, but I still love her all the same. I think it influences the picture because my grandmother agrees with me about my sister being a little pest and that comes across in the picture because she's scolding her for being silly. It really makes me smile every time I see the photo.
c. I intended for this photo to be viewed as playful and bright, and the feedback I got from it tells me that I achieved this. I will definitely remember this in 10 years, it's been 3 already.
This is a photo of me, taken by Haley Jo Horton, a dear friend of mine.
a. The purpose of this picture was I need senior pictures for my graduation invites. I keep it because I think I look all model like, and it was one of my favorites from the whole shoot. I chose it for this assignment because Haley is an excellent photographer and I think more people should see her work. This significance is the purpose of taking the photo, and the relationship with the photographer.
b. Haley and I are like sisters. I don't think it really influences the picture because it was a serious picture and usually Haley and I are very goofy when around each other. It makes me view the picture on a more professional level and sometimes I forget that it was just my friend who took them and not a highly paid photographer.
c. It was just for graduation invites and for friends to view. But I wouldn't mind if Haley used it later in her portfolio. I think I will remember this picture in 10 years because the day it was taken was one of the best days of my life with two of the best friends I could ever have.
a. I think the purpose of this photo was to show the playful nature of bubbles. It's not mine, I found it on the internet one day, and I thought it was perfect for this project so I found it again. The significance to me is the fact that bubbles are a part of my childhood, and many others.
b. I'm not sure what the emotional relationship is between the photographer and the subject. It looks more like an add type photograph, where the photographer just needed a model. I think it makes the photo that much more playful because there is no emotional relationship between the two.
c. Since I found it while looking for fashion photography, I'm going to say that it was intended to be viewed as a fashion add by anyone interested in photography. I probably won't remember this photo in 10 years because I don't own the picture, and I just found it on the internet one day.
